Aguero’s representatives in Barcelona to negotiate a move, Roberto could be handed a two-year extension

Manchester City interested to sign Barcelona right back Sergi Roberto

Barca getting closer to Aguero

Barcelona are getting closer to Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, whose representatives are said to be currently in the capital of Catalonia.

The report also adds that negotiations over a possible summer move could take place sooner.

Man City confirmed that Aguero will leave the club at the end of this season as a free agent, thereby putting his potential suitors on alert.

Barca have been keeping tabs on the Argentine for a while and PSG alongside Chelsea and Tottenham are said to be other interested parties.

Barca president Joan Laporta is said to be a huge admirer of the 33-year-old as he sees this transfer as a part of his strategy to keep his Argentine compatriot Lionel Messi from not leaving the club.

However, Laporta has put some stipulations on the transfer and one of them is that Aguero has to agree to a pay cut.

Aguero can be a stop-gap option to fill the striker role but Barca need someone like Erling Haaland and Lautaro Martinez if they are planning for the future.

Barca to renew Roberto’s contract

Barca are interested in extending Sergi Roberto‘s contract for two more seasons until 2024.

The former La Masia graduate and one of the captains of Barca had missed a set of games due to injury before he returned to El Clasico last week.

Roberto’s versatility is an asset Ronald Koeman would like to have around but the right-back spot, which was occupied by the Spaniard over the years, has to go for youngster Sergino Dest, who has been impressive this season.
