The newly elected President looks to have some audacious plans ahead of the summer transfer window.

Joan Laporta, who was elected the new president of Barcelona, looks to have some massive transfer plans up his sleeve.

According to reports, Laporta wants to compete with Real Madrid for the signings of David Alaba and Erling Haaland despite Blaugrana’s severe financial crisis.

Alaba earlier announced that he would be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of this summer, with reports also stating that Madrid have an agreement in place for the free transfer of the Austrian defender.

However, it has been rumoured in recent weeks that Alaba was looking away from the Spanish Capital club after finding their offer not up to his demands. It has, in turn, allowed several Premier League clubs to reignite their interest in the 28-year-old.

Barca are also looking to bring Alaba to the Nou Camp as Laporta is said to have held a meeting with his agent Pini Zahavi.

As far as Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is concerned, Europe’s top clubs are keeping close tabs on the Norwegian however Madrid are understood to be ahead of the race. The Spanish capital club cites the 20-year-old as their perfect Galactico signing this summer.

Laporta is also considering the signing of Haaland although he is well aware of the fact that the transfers of such magnitude can’t happen without the sales of the current crop of players. Barca have been without a proper striker since Luis Suarez’s departure and Haaland can be a top signing.
