Klopp or Nagelsmann to replace Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, Nagelsmann denies speculations

Hans Flick-Bayern Munich

Flick has been heavily linked with a move to the German national team.

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick faces an uncertain future at Allianz Arena following the Champions League exit.

Although it has been rumoured for a while, German legend Lothar Matthaus claimed that Flick had managed his last Champions League game against PSG and also added that the Bavarians gaffer is poised to take over as national team coach.

Joachim Low had earlier confirmed that he would resign from the national team job after the European Championship.

Flick’s comments after the defeat against PSG has also sparked doubts over his future, with the German gaffer stating that he doesn’t know whether he would grace his contract at Bayern.

“I have a contract with Bayern Munich and these are things that just come. You always think about what’s happening and how does it go on and so on, whether everything is wonderful or otherwise.

“I think the thing is for everyone in this position, whether as manager or coach or whatever, is how can I keep developing the team, the club? It’s a normal process … I’m always thinking, because for me it’s part of the process of success. And of course, you have to look.”

Lotthar Matthäus on Sky: "Hansi Flick has an offer to become Germany boss. Bayern Munich have already been thinking about Julian Nagelsmann as his successor. The Bundesliga game against Augsuburg will be his last as Bayern coach."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann have emerged as potential candidates to replace Flick if he leaves Bayern this summer.

Klopp is going through a whirlwind season with Liverpool currently stationed outside the top four of the Premier League table and also got eliminated in the Champions League quarter-final by Real Madrid.

Although the former Dortmund boss wants to continue with the Reds, his chances to leave Anfield will be higher if Liverpool fall short of the top-four race.

Transfer Gossip: Bayern Munich will attempt to bring Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to the Bundesliga club in the summer if Hansi Flick leaves to take over as Germany boss.

Nagelsmann is another serious option, with Matthaus claiming that Bayern have contacted Leipzig boss for the managerial role.

However, the young Germann shrugged off the speculations regarding a possible move to Allianz Arena.

“There were and are no talks. I don’t know where he got the information. You’d have to ask Lothar that.”
