Manchester United Transfer: Red Devils keen on Icardi, Pogba – Raiola’s conflict with Sir Alex Ferguson

PSG-Inter agreement reached on Mauro Icardi?

Icardi interest

Manchester United are thought to be  interested in signing a quality striker this summer and Paris Saint Germain forward Mauro Icardi is on their radar.

Edinson Cavani is expected to leave the club at the end of this season and the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been inconsistent in terms of goalscoring.

Icardi is a proven goal scorer and his track record at PSG and Inter Milan shows that he could be the ideal striker for the Red Devils next season.

It will be interesting to see the Premier League side can agree on a deal with the French outfit for the Argentine striker.

Pogba’s departure from Old Trafford

Meanwhile a report has outlined why Paul Pogba left Manchester United when Sir Alex Ferguson was managing the Premier League giants.

The player’s agent Mino Raiola had a complicated relationship with the former Manchester United manager and that led to the Frenchman’s departure to Juventus.

Apart from the contractual conflicts between the two parties, Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to keep Paul Pogba on the bench and field defenders in the midfield instead also played a key role in the player’s decision to leave.

During a match against Blackburn in 2011, the Manchester United manager decided to start defender Rafael in the middle of the park instead of Pogba and it showed that Ferguson was lacking in faith when it comes to the Frenchman.

Several years on, Manchester United have now re-signed the Frenchman for a club-record fee but Pogba is yet to live up to the expectations at Old Trafford.

The player has been linked with a move away from the Premier League once again and it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can hold on to him this time.
