Manchester United succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against rivals Manchester City in the derby at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils’ put on a lacklustre performance, which hasn’t pleased former midfielder Paul Scholes.
The ex-Man Utd legend has slammed Aaron Wan-Bissaka and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the wake of the derby defeat.
Scholes claimed Wan-Bissaka was useless on the ball and also questioned Solskjaer’s 3-5-2 formation against Man City.
The former English midfielder said (h/t Mirror): ” I said before the 3-5-2 doesn’t suit the players in the team. Wan-Bissaka is useless on the ball – brilliant defender but useless on the ball at right-back.
“Three centre-halves today, none of them that good on the ball. Ole has got to find a way… There’s a squad of players there that could be okay.”
“The conviction has to come from the coach of the way you’re going to play football. Ole has been here three years now and we’ve come here today not really knowing what he’s going to do.That makes the recruitment almost impossible because you’re not buying players for a system.”
Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes held responsible for the derby defeat
Sky Sports Pundit and former Scottish footballer Graeme Souness has pointed his fingers at Bruno Fernandes and Wan-Bissaka for the defeat against Pep Guardiola’s men.
Souness claimed the two players’ lacklustre efforts led to City’s first goal, which was indeed an own goal from Eric Bailly.
Souness said (h/t The Daily Express): “You’d imagine the United bench shouting at Fernandes to stop the cross but he doesn’t. He jogs out. Sprint to him, son, sprint to him!
“That is not professional football at the highest level. That is not the attitude to have in that. For the second goal it was the exact same. It’s not professional football at the highest level.”
