Tax intricacies could allow Real Madrid only offer a one-year deal for Cristiano Ronaldo
Juventus ace Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a return to Real Madrid following another failure in the Champions League.
Furthermore, Zinedine Zidane fuelled the speculations after claiming that the reports of Ronaldo’s possible return were true.
However, Los Blancos are presented with a stumbling block in the Portuguese ace’s pursuit as Spain’s tax rate is much higher than Italy’s and the best Madrid can do about it is by offering the 36-year-old a one-year deal.
According to Toni Roca, CEO of Himnus Football Lawyers,
“Ronaldo enjoys a special tax regime [in Italy].
“He did not go to Italy by chance, since the transalpine country has the most favourable tax treatment of the five major leagues on the continent.
“For those 40 million euros that [Ronaldo] receives per year for image rights, Cristiano would have paid 100 times more taxes in Spain.”
Eden Hazard will not undergo surgery
Los Blancos have taken advice from various specialists to convince Eden Hazard not to undergo another ankle surgery as he recently suffered an injury in the right psoas.
The Belgian international has been hampered by a string of injury setbacks since joining the Spanish capital club and he believes the ankle surgery he had last year is the reason behind it.
Madrid wants the former Chelsea star not to hasten his recovery as they want him to gain confidence both physically and mental wise.
Bookmakers place Madrid as the sixth favourite for Champions League
Real Madrid have been deemed the sixth favourite for the Champions League as bookmakers feel that Zidane’s men can’t make any significant impact in further rounds.
Madrid steamrolled Atalanta to secure their place in the last eight of the Champions League.
Although Manchester City, Bayern Munich and PSG lead the line, Los Blancos have been placed below the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
