Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min must force Tottenham exit if they want to win trophies

Tottenham Hotspur crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday and their long wait for a trophy will continue for another season at the very least.

The likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min were extremely disappointed after the game, and one has to wonder whether it is time for them to move on in search of a club that can help them fulfil their ambitions.

Both the strikers look very dejected after the loss. Son Heung-Min broke down into tears with overwhelming emotions and they bad body language like they have given up.

Both players have been exceptional for Tottenham this season but they are set to end the season without Champions League qualification and a trophy. Players of their calibre cannot afford to waste their peak years at a club that is unlikely to challenge for the major honours anytime soon and it will be interesting to see if Kane and Son decide to leave this summer.

Harry Kane has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham in the recent months and it remains to be seen how the failure to secure Champions League football affects his future.

The likes of Kane and Son are good enough to start for most of the top teams in Europe and world football. They are unlikely to have a shortage of suitors if they are available this summer.

However, Daniel Levy is unlikely to let his key players leave anytime soon and he will demand a massive fee before considering a sale.

The footballing world has been affected financially by the coronavirus crisis, and it will be interesting to see if any club is willing to fork out an absurd amount of money needed to sign the likes of Kane and Son this summer.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min are 27 and 28 years old respectively and they will be past their peak in a few years. They should be playing at a club where they can win trophies consistently.

Daniel Levy’s determination to hold on to them could be in jeopardy if the two players decide to force a move in the summer and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.
