Mourinho unaffected by criticism
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has attracted a lot of criticism this season for his side’s performances but the Portuguese sees himself as one of the most important managers in the game.
It seems that Mourinho is not concerned with what the critics have to say about him and he continues to point towards his achievements as a manager so far.
He said: “I don’t think anybody is going to discuss rocket science with the guys from NASA, with everybody around the world. They think they can discuss football with one of the most important managers in the game. That’s the beauty of football. I got used to it. I appreciate that. So that’s fine for me.”
Mourinho has won several trophies across different leagues in his career and he is undoubtedly one of the most successful managers of his time.
It will be interesting to see if he can guide Spurs to a top-four finish and help them win some silverware this season.
The Londoners have an excellent opportunity to win the Carabao Cup as they are in the finals and it will be interesting to see if Mourinho can end the London side’s quest for a trophy.
Bale agent clears the air
Meanwhile, Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale recently claimed that he wants to return to the Spanish club at the end of his loan spell.
The player’s agent has now revealed that his comments have been taken out of context and it is too soon for the player to make a permanent decision on his future.
Bale has done well for Spurs in recent weeks but he has one year left on his deal at Santiago Bernabeu. It will be interesting to see where he decides to play next season.
Dele Alli future
Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli was heavily linked with a move away from the London club during the January transfer window but club chairman Daniel Levy overruled Jose Mourinho and blocked the midfielder’s exit to PSG.
Apparently, the Spurs chairman wanted a fee of around £45 million for the 24-year-old but he is ready to backtrack on his valuation and let the player leave on a bargain price this summer.
Alli has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth under Mourinho and he needs to leave the London club if he wants to play more often.
It seems that Levy was hoping that Alli would turn his career around at Tottenham but that has not been the case in recent months.
