Antonio Conte’s move to Tottenham has collapsed

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for the former Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte.

The Londoners are looking for a long term replacement for Jose Mourinho, and they were trying to finalise the appointment of the former Chelsea manager.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal to bring Conte back to the Premier League has now collapsed, and Tottenham will now look to bring in a different manager.

Apparently, the Italian manager remains unconvinced about the project at the London club. Conte wants a project that is capable of winning trophies in the short term, but Tottenham will need massive investment for that to happen. As previously Anytime-Football analysed the development between the Italian manager and Premier League club, who are fundamentally very different.

Furthermore, Tottenham have not been able to agree on an acceptable salary proposal either.

The two parties had a difference of around €3 million when it came to salary proposals.

The Italian manager also wanted to bring more than four staff members to the club, and the Londoners were reluctant.

The talks with Antonio Conte have now stalled, and it will be interesting to see if they can find a replacement that is equally good this summer. That said, they are expected to appoint Fabio Paratici as their sporting director.

Tottenham are in desperate need of a managerial appointment that can convince their star players that they are an ambitious club.

The likes of Harry Kane have been linked with a move away from Spurs this summer, and the arrival of Conte could have convinced the England international to stay on for another season.

Meanwhile, former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return this summer. It will be interesting to see if the Londoners can pull that off in the coming weeks.
