Arsenal 1-1 Leicester: Vardy scored late equaliser, after Auba gave Gunners lead

Arsenal 1-1 Leicester Vardy scored late equaliser, after Auba gave Gunners lead

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw against Leicester City at home. The Gunners took the lead on the 21st minute through their top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mikel Arteta’s men managed to dominate for most of the game and they should have scored more goals. However, Eddie Nketiah’s red card allowed Leicester back into the game and Jamie Vardy snatched a point towards the end of the game with a well-taken goal.

The Gunners managed to score again through Alexandre Lacazette but the Frenchman was ruled offside.

Arsenal are now seventh in the Premier League table with 50 points and they will be desperate to finish the season strongly and qualify for the Europa League. Meanwhile, Leicester City dropped to fourth after the draw and they will be keen on to hold on to that position.

Manchester United are breathing down their necks and Brendan Rodgers’ men cannot afford to slip up anymore. Missing out on Champions League football after such a fine first half of the season would be damaging to their morale.

Leicester City have been quite mediocre since the turn of the year and they will have to find a solution to their problems soon. The Foxes might need to win most of their games in order stay in the top four.

Yesterday’s strike leaves Jamie Vardy with 22 goals for the season, restoring his two-goal lead ahead of Aubameyang in the race for the Golden Boot.
