Xabi Alonso to manage Borussia Mönchengladbach

Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is all set to take over as the new manager of Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end of this season.

The current Gladbach manager Marco Rose will take over at Borussia Dortmund and the former World Cup winner will replace Rose at the German club.

Alonso has been working as a coach for the Real Sociedad B side and his contract with the Spanish outfit expires at the end of the season.

The Spaniard is relatively inexperienced as a manager and it will be interesting to see how he copes with the challenges and the pressure of managing at this level.

According to reports, Alonso has already accepted an offer to become the head coach of the German side in June and the appointment will be announced imminently.

Rummenigge rules out Hansi Flick exit

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has been linked with the managerial job at the German national team.

Apparently, Joachim Low is set to step down after the Euros and Flick could be one of the potential replacements.

However Bayern chief Karl Heinz Rummenigge has now ruled out any chance of Flick leaving the German club.

Hansi flick has done an excellent job at Bayern Munich and he helped them win every trophy at the club level last season. It is no surprise that the German giants are keen on keeping him at the club beyond this season.

Rummenigge told Welt am Sonntag: “I told [Flick] that we are very satisfied with him. We are well-advised to finish what we have agreed in the contract. I told Hansi that in no uncertain terms.”
