Bayern Munich will travel to the capital this Saturday to face Hertha Berlin in the 13th Round of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season.

Venue: Olympiastadion (Berlin)

Key Statistics

Hertha Berlin have made their worst 12-game league start since 2019/20 (W2, D5, L5) in terms of points (11).

They have lost their last four head-to-head games against Bayern.

The Old Lady have not won back-to-back home matches in the Bundesliga since December 2021.

But the hosts are unbeaten in their last four home games at home (W1, D3).

Hertha top scorer Dodi Lukebakio struck five times in his first three appearances against Bayern – including a hat-trick for Fortuna Düsseldorf in a 3-3 draw at the Allianz Arena on Matchday 12 of 2018/19. But has failed to score in his last four.

Hertha have claimed one point across their previous seven meetings with Bayern, whilst losing their last five in a row.

Bayern Muich have scored a league-high 24 of their 38 goals so far this season in the first half of games. Hertha had struck just four times before the half-time whistle.

Bayern Munich have won their last seven games in all competitions.

They are unbeaten across their last ten games in all competitions (W9, D1).

Eric Choupo-Moting has scored in three straight Bundesliga games. Four in succession would be a personal record.

Jamal Musiala is the joint-highest-scoring midfielder in this season’s Bundesliga, along with Eintracht Frankfurt’s seven-goal Daichi Kamada. Five of the teen’s efforts have come in the first half of matches.

Head to head

Bayern Munich have an impressive record against Hertha Berlin and have won 31 of the last 46 matches played between the two teams. Hertha Berlin have four victories.

Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin will look to begin the new month on a clean slate after an underwhelming October that saw them win just once in five games (D2, L2),.

The hosts sit in the lower reaches of the Bundesliga standings in 14th place, a situation made more unpalatable by cross-city rivals Union Berlin sitting at the top of the table.

They come into this tie on the back of a 1-0 loss to Werder Bremen, a loss that came as a result of a late goal by Niclas Fullkrug. Hertha captain Marvin Plattenhardt stated after the game that he was “fuming” and that the game “should have finished 0-0”.

That late goal means the Old Lady of Germany have made their worst 12-game league start since 2019/20 (W2, D5, L5) in terms of points (11). Manager Sandro Schwarz will hope for a powerful response when they welcome Bayern Munich to Olympiastadion where Hertha are trying to protect a four-game unbeaten home run (W1, D3).

However, extending that unbeaten run is a tough assignment against Bayern given that they lost the last four home H2Hs against the visitors, twice, conceding exactly four times.

Possible Hertha Berlin starting line-up

Oliver Christensen; Jonjoe Kenny, Agustin Rogel, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Marvin Plattenhardt; Lucas Tousart, Ivan Sunjic, Suat Serdar; Dodi Lukebakio, Wilfried Kanga, Marco Richter.

Injured: Kelian Nsona, Jessic Ngankam, Linus Gechter, Stevan Jovetic, Marton Dadai, Wilfried Kanga

Doubtful: None

Suspended: R. A. Jarstein

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich made it eight consecutive wins in a row in all competitions on Tuesday when they beat Inter Milan 2-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Goals from Benjamin Pavard and the in-form Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting–his third goal in a row and eight in the season–ensured that Julian Nagelsmann’s men became the first team to win all six group stage games in a single Champions League season on three separate occasions.

The result also extended Bayern’s unbeaten run in all competitions to ten games, with nine wins recorded in that period and 2+ goals scored in each game.

The target will be to continue that impressive run of form at the capital as they continue to keep pace with Union Berlin, who currently lead them by one point.

The reigning Bundesliga champions will travel with confidence given that they are unbeaten in five competitive away games (W4, D1), keeping clean sheets in each of the last two of those fixtures.

That should inspire confidence ahead of a trip to the capital. Although considering their only league defeat this term came on the road to a side in the bottom half, there’s no room for complacency.

Possible Bayern Munich starting line-up

Sven Ulreich; Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, Alphonso Davies; Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka; Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Sadio Mane; Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Injured: Bouna Sarr, Thomas Muller

Doubtful: Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sané, Lucas Hernández

Suspended: None
