Gladbach have been held to a thrilling draw by Stuttgart, who scored a final minute equaliser.

Stuttgart have stunned Borussia Mönchengladbach following the 2-2 draw, which witnessed a dramatic last-minute equaliser by the home side.

The visitors were on the front foot when they left the first half leading with the scoreline 1-0. Lars Stindl scored the only goal from the penalty spot.

Argentine forward Nicolas Gonzalez put Stuttgart on level terms after netting a brilliant header past Yan Sommer, only for Denis Zakaria to establish the lead again minutes later. The Swiss midfielder put the ball into the nets after he was played through by Stindl.

While Marco Rose’s side were hoping for a comfortable win, a controversial drama in the added minutes of the second half halted their plans. Wamangituka didn’t make any mistake from spot, after VAR intervened for a controversial strangle inside the box.

Gladbach have failed to keep up their momentum following the last week’s emphatic come back win over leaders Bayern Munich which leaves them seventh in the Bundesliga table.

Rose also offered his thoughts on the draw, suggesting that his side deserved to win.

The German said,  “I’m delighted for the boys, they deserve the win. In so many games, we’ve lacked that little bit of luck. Today we created that for ourselves.

“We were 2-0 down early on, without Bayern playing us off the park. Both goals were unfortunate. But in any case, we offered too little until that point and weren’t brave enough in the early phase.

“The first goal back was so important, it gave us renewed strength. And then sometimes in football it just goes like that. I think, overall, we deserved the win. That match is a sign that we must keep at it!”
