Chelsea 1-2 Arsenal Arsenal lift FA Cup, Auba scores braces

Arsenal picked up a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final earlier today.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice to secure a memorable win for the Gunners.

Arsenal have had a season to forget and they needed to finish the season on a high. The FA Cup win will give them some much needed confidence.

They have improved a lot since Arteta’s arrival and it was evident once again in the final. Despite going down initially, they fought back for the win.

Christian Pulisic scored the opener for the Blues but Aubameyang canceled it with his spot kick. The Arsenal star was brought down in the box by Azpilicueta and Arsenal converted from the resulting penalty.

VAR took some time to endorse Referee’s verdict, as the engagement between captain of two sides continued for a duration, and stated from outside of penalty area. Referee let off Azpilicueta with a yellow.

Just moments before that Pepe scored a superb goal from outside of penalty area, which was ruled out for off-side.

Aubameyang scored his second of the night in the second half and Chelsea failed to get back into the game after that.

Frank Lampard’s team were down to ten men after Mateo Kovacic was sent off. It was a controversial decision, and Lampard was vocal about the outcome of the engagement between Kovacic and Xhaka.

Chelsea would have expected to win the cup and they will be bitterly disappointed with the outcome. They have been better than Arsenal all season and they should have performed better here.

Meanwhile, Arteta heaped praise on the match winner Aubameyang after the game. He said that big games require big moments from big players and Aubameyang delivered when it mattered most. He was the match winner in the semi final as well and now he has managed to decide the final.
