English Football League (EFL) clubs have finally decided on Saturday, June 20 as the date Championship will restart in England. Premier League could also be returning on the same day, as Dani Ceballos hinted in a recent interview.

Premier League managed month-long training for players to gear up before league restarts, but EFL would have to be quick to resume games.

The key date for Championship is July 31, which is the date of expiery for current contract terms. The EFL are focusing on getting all 24 teams back training. Only Hull City is the only team who were against resuming the campaign.

So EFL clubs have agreed to rush through the remaining nine Championship match-days within a month by playing two matches in a week so that they could finish on July 18 – leaving enough time to complete the play-offs for Premier League qualification.

Players of EFL, have signed a 47-page dossier on policies and protocols on social distancing at the training ground. The EFL would conduct the first round of blanket testing when they return to action on Monday.

Although there was no vote on the manner of how League One will end, League One clubs should not take much time to get up and running once a decision is made.

The clock is definitely ticking for the EFL clubs – the clubs are being briefed informally about timetable before it was published.
