Tomas Soucek’s late strike has handed Everton a disappointing defeat at Goodison Park.
West Ham United couldn’t have asked for a better start to the new year as they have defeated Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park, with Tomas Soucek firing in a late goal.
The first half was a drab as both sides never looked as they were to score goals bar the one moment when Randolph was tested by Toffees’ Bernard. The Irish goalkeeper was named as the starter right before the game as Lukasz Fabianski suffered an injury in the warm-up.
Hammers thoroughly deserved a goal in the second half and it even became a reality through Tomas Soucek’s strike in the final quarter. Soucek had his first shot denied by Jordan Pickford but put his foot to send Creswell’s thunderous ball into the nets.
The Toffees’ winning rhythm – defeating the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal – have been cut short after suffering a late defeat, meaning the Merseyside club are fourth in the league table.
David Moyes looks to be delighted with the victory after going without a win in the last three matches.
