Everton manager Ancelotti expecting a busy transfer window in summer

Carlo Ancelotti - Everton Manager

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that the club will back him in the transfer market this summer.

The Toffees need to improve their squad and Ancelotti is looking to use the window to strengthen his side.

It will be interesting to see if Everton can get the necessary reinforcements in the coming months.

They have improved a lot since Ancelotti’s arrival but they are yet to reach a level from where they can challenge for trophies and play European football.

Everton are currently 11th in the league table and they will be hoping for a better return on their investment going forward.

Defensively, Everton have been quite porous and they have been linked with defenders like Jean-Clair Todibo and Gabriel Magalhaes already. They have conceded 53 goals in 36 league games.

Furthermore, they have been linked with Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield as well.

It remains to be seen who they end up with.

Everton have spent significant money under Moshiri but most of their signings have flopped. Ancelotti will have to ensure a better investment in order to succeed at Goodison Park.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his summer transfer plans, the Italian manager said: “We are looking for players with quality, we need to improve the squad for next season. When the season is finished I think that we are going to talk together to find the right solution for this. I think that the board is going to support me and support the team. We have the same idea that the team has to improve.”

Other teams like around Everton have strengthened significantly over the past two years and they are now ahead of the Toffees in terms of development. Wolves, Leicester have all bought quality new players and Everton will have to bridge that gap this summer.
