Former Leeds star urges club owners to back Marcelo Bielsa to reach greater heights

Marcelo Bielsa-Leeds United

Former England international Paul Robinson has claimed that Leeds United could become a force under Marcelo Bielsa, if the Argentine manager is properly backed.

It will be interesting to see if the club hierarchy are willing to back him in the transfer market this summer and improve the squad.

Robinson said: “There’s a real rapport with Bielsa and Leeds United, it seems like he’s finally found somewhere where he’s really enjoying working and that he’s got a real tie to. He’s having to spend a lot of time away from his family but he’s a workaholic and it’s something that he seems to have a real passion for.

“He’s found a home at Leeds and I think the feeling’s mutual. He only ever signs 12-month contracts and that always gives him the option to leave but he’s talking about players for next season and he’s already planning a new assault on the Premier League. He can see what he’s got already and with new investment for the team, if he gets a decent budget then he can really turn Leeds into a force next season.”

Leeds United have done reasonably well in the Premier League so far and they are currently 10th in the League table.

It is quite possible that they could finish in the top 8 and it would be a tremendous achievement for Bielsa especially after getting them promoted earlier this season.

Leeds United have attracted a lot of praise because of their free-flowing attacking football and they have also managed to sign some quality young players this season.

If they can improve defensively in the coming months, there is no reason why they cannot push for European qualification next season.

Bielsa is adored by the Leeds United fans and he seems to have formed a meaningful connection with the club. The owners must do everything in their power to hold on to him for as long as possible if they want to keep progressing as a football club.
