Borussia Mönchengladbach beat Union Berlin 4-1 at Borussia-Park, as they ensured the third spot in the Bundesliga table. They have same point tally as Bayer Leverkusen in the league table but have better goal-difference. But RB Leipzig who have the match today may leapfrog into third place if they win against FC Koln today.

Gladbach made three changes from the team which was held for a 0-0 draw, against Bremen mid-week. Tony Jantschke, Oscar Wendt, Kramar dropped out, making way for Bensebaini, Hofmann and Herrmann.

Union Berlin also made two changes. Robert Andrich could not play due to suspension for the red card. Christopher Lenz recalled after injury, in place of Julian Ryerson.

Goals – Thuram scored double

Florian Neuhaus scored the first goal for Gladbach, as he runs into the penalty area, and put a low shot which went inside after hitting the post. Marcus Thuram scored the next two Gladbach goals at 41′ and 59′ respectively. 

Union Berlin came back into the game briefly as Sebastian Andersson made 2-1 at 50′. Alassane Pléa scored the last goal himself at 81′ after making two assists for Marcus Thuram goals.
