Jude Bellingham signed for Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund to sign 'United target' Jude Bellingham

Birmingham midfielder Jude Bellingham has signed for German outfit Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga club have a great track record of improving young players and it will be interesting to see how Bellingham develops there.

The 17-year-old is one of the most talented young players in England and he will be hoping to follow in his compatriot’s footsteps at Dortmund.

Sancho made a similar move a few years ago and he has developed into a superstar now. Bellingham has the talent to be just as good.

As per reports, Birmingham will receive around £25m for the playmaker apart from other performance based add-ons.

Bellingham was linked with Manchester United as well but he chose to join the Germans instead.

The player’s parents were given a tour of Carrington earlier this year but Manchester United failed to convince him eventually.

It will be interesting to see if Dortmund give him first team chances in the Bundesliga next season. Although, he is unproven at this level, he has the talent to adapt and make a difference.

Bellingham has signed a long term contract with Dortmund and he thanked his former club Birmingham for their role in his development.

He said: “I can’t thank Birmingham enough for what they have done for me, not just this past year but since the age of seven. Of course I wish everyone associated with the club nothing but the best. Once a blue always a blue.

“However, I’m incredibly excited to have joined one of Europe’s biggest clubs. The direction they are heading in and how much they help to improve young players made it an easy decision for myself and my family. I can’t wait to perform in front of all the fans when they are back inside one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.”
