Klopp unhappy with owners over Wijnaldum decision

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been left infuriated with owners FSG’s decision not to renew the deal of Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Dutch midfielder has his contract running out this summer and it has been widely speculated that he would leave Anfield after not agreeing to a new deal.

Perhaps, Klopp, who is a big admirer of the Netherlands international, is unhappy with FSG for their way of handling Wijnaldum’s contract.

The 30-year-old is said to have made up his mind to join Barcelona on a free transfer as he would be able to reunite with his former manager Ronald Koeman.

Klopp also feels he was let down by FSG in the transfer window as the German looked for big names in the defence but he ended up having Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies.

It is understandable why Klopp wants to retain Wijnaldum as the Dutchman was a key for the Reds winning the Champions League and Premier League. However, his recent performances are not up to the mark and hence Klopp should try to have a younger player in the midfield or count on Thiago, who is very much composed on the ball.

Reds to take Marko Grujic decision

Liverpool is still undecided on whether to take back Marko Grujic from Porto or sell him permanently. As Porto are not interested in making the deal for Grujic permanent. Grujic is now poised to return to Liverpool in the summer having been unable to establish himself in Portugal.

The on-loan Reds midfielder, who has been impressive for the Portuguese giants, has drawn interest from a few clubs in Bundesliga and the Merseyside are waiting to make their decision soon.

Liverpool believe that Grujic’s stock must have risen considering his current form.

The 25-year-old was part of the Porto side that defeated Juventus in the round of 16 last month.

Porto Liverpool loanee midfielder Marko Grujic is a player in demand this summer, liverpool ECHO understands there has been significant interest from several clubs in the Bundesliga and Serie A about acquiring the combative midfielder's services.
Liverpool will be open to offers for Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson, Ben Woodburn, Sheyi Ojo, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi this summer. Upgrading Origi to give them a more potent striking option off the bench is crucial. #awlfc [@JamesPearceLFC]
