Juventus 1-2 Udinese: Juve concede lead, fall to Udinese

Juventus could be forced to sell Ronaldo for cut-price fee

Juventus crashed to a 2-1 defeat against Udinese in the Serie A last night.

Matthijs De Ligt had put the defending champions ahead just before half time but the Turin giants failed to hold on to their advantage for long.

Ilija Nestorovski equalized just seven minutes into the second half for Udinese and then Seko Fofana scored a sensational winner deep into stoppage time.

A win yesterday would have given Juventus their ninth consecutive league title.

The fans will be thoroughly disappointed with the performance from the players yesterday. Juventus have been quite below par this season and if they do not improve rapidly, they are unlikely to do well in the Champions League.

Maurizio Sarri’s men have looked vulnerable all season and they have conceded freely in the recent weeks.

Since the restart, Juventus have been leaky at the back and they cannot hope to take on the European elite with a defence like that.

Sarri’s methods have not yielded the expected results so far and Juventus’ performances in the cups are a proof of that. Juventus lost the Coppa Italia to Napoli earlier.

The former Chelsea boss’s future is up in the air and it will be interesting to see if he can hold on to his job next season.

After the game, Sarri revealed that his players are exhausted and that is what their performance levels have dropped.

He said: “In this period, we are physically and mentally tired, and it is a problem common to all. For this reason, being aggressive is something more tiring and, therefore, now what matters most is order, because the inertia of a game changes very easily. It is difficult to keep it throughout the match and sometimes, like today, we lose it.”
