Athletic Bilbao

After a disappointing end to their Copa del Rey campaign, Athletic Bilbao will turn their attention to the league where they will look to take the maximum points when they welcome bottom-of-the-table Levante to San Mamés.

The hosts’ giant-killing run in the Copa del Rey came to an end in midweek as they were beaten 1-0 by Valencia. The loss was their second loss in a row following a 4-0 loss to Barcelona last week in the league.

They come into this tie sitting in eighth place, seven points behind the top six where they are looking to end this season.

They have not actually finished higher than eighth in Spain’s top flight since 2017, and they will be hoping to improve on last season’s finish of 10th.

However, the ‘Lions’ have struggled for consistency at home this season, winning six, drawing two and losing four of their 12 matches in front of their supporters. But they are unbeaten against Levante in the top flight since December 2018, including a 2-0 victory in the corresponding match last term.
