Atletico 2-0 Sevilla: Correa, Saul goals hand unstoppable Atletico 3-points

Saul-Atletico Madrid

Atletico have continued their winning run with a comprehensive win over Sevilla.

Atletico Madrid have comfortably defeated Sevilla 2-0 to extend their winning run in La Liga.

The game was touted as an exciting encounter as the table leaders hosted mighty Sevillans.

However, Colchoneros proved too much for Julen Lopetegui’s side, who had t

heir winning run cut short.

An early goal from Angel Correa resulted from right-back Kieran Trippier’s cross followed by Saul’s brilliant strike from the edge of the penalty area in the second half did the job for Atletico.

Correa, who started ahead of Joao Felix, made his selection worthwhile by netting his second goal of the season, adding to it five assists.

Saul also registered his first goal of the season by scoring a binder as the midfielder put up an impressive display.

Sevilla, who were coming off an emphatic 3-2 win against Real Sociedad, courtesy of En-Nesyri’s hat-trick, fell as a prey to the table toppers and also saw their six-match unbeaten run come to an end.

Elsewhere, it appears to be no boundaries for Atletico, who are soaring at the top of the La Liga table with 41 points, four points clear of local-rivals Real Madrid, who have played two matches more than them. Perhaps, Atletico’s only defeat of this season have come against Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Following their shock elimination from Copa del Rey, Atletico have responded well with a comprehensive win.
