The Argentine has been heavily linked with an exit from the Nou Camp.

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi can leave for free this summer as he has no active release clause.

According to reports, Messi’s supposed £632m buyout clause is no more active, which means he can join any other clubs on a free transfer if he wishes to.

It has been previously reported that the above-mentioned release clause has been preventing his move this summer. Nonetheless, Barca hierarchy is keen on keeping the club legend for good although he looks sceptical about their plans and project.

Similarly, Ronald Koeman, Barca’s new manager, has persuaded Messi to stay at the Nou Camp but looks to be of little help.

Moreover, the 33-year-old is said to have decided to snub the PCR tests and initial training with the Catalans.

Manchester City appear as a possible destination for Messi as he had contacted manager Pep Guardiola through a phone call last week.

PSG and Juventus are also queuing up in the race for the Blaugrana skipper, with the latter one aiming to team him up with Cristiano Ronaldo

Les Parisiens have also contacted Messi’s father to discuss a summer transfer and all the above, Neymar is said to be dreaming of joining hands once again with his former teammate.

Man City were willing to pay a considerable transfer fee for Messi if required, but now they look to be relieved of the release clause burden.
