Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has emerged as a surprise candidate for the Barcelona job.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been shortlisted as one of the options to replace Barcelona‘s current manager Ronald Koeman.

Koeman’s future remains up in the air following a disappointing season, which saw Barcelona fail in La Liga and the Champions League. The Catalan club are reportedly on the lookout for a new manager as Koeman’s chances to survive beyond this summer have dwindled.

It has been added that Klopp is a dream candidate for the Catalans, but the German manager is tied to a contract at Anfield until 2024.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has endured a torrid season in the Premier League; however, he is still pushing the Reds for a place in the top four.

Furthermore, Klopp’s arrival has been deemed as impossible due to Barca’s current economic crisis.

The German gaffer’s exit links circulated for a while after the Reds went through a rough patch, but he renounced the speculations later on, and so did his agent.

Klopp has recently stated that playing in the Europa League won’t be disrespectful, although the Reds can qualify for the Champions League if they win the rest of their games.

Barca have also drawn out the likes of Erik ten Hag of Ajax, Xavi and the B team coach Garcia Pimienta as alternatives for Koeman.

Xavi appears to be topping the wishlist of Barca, although the Spaniard has renewed his deal with Al Sadd.

The former midfielder is said to have asked for taking full control of the famed academy La Masia should he become the manager.
