Real Madrid weigh up Erling Haaland move as potential Plan B for Mbappe

Los Blancos will look to the Norwegian striker if they fail to land Mbappe next summer.

Real Madrid have sorted out Erling Haaland a potential target should they fail to sign PSG ace Kylian Mbappe next summer.

Mbappe turns out to be a top target for Los Blancos but the financial crisis caused by pandemic has created doubts over his signing.

According to reports, Madrid are considering Haaland as an alternative option while he carries a release clause worth 63m pounds, which makes him a relatively cheaper option than Mbappe.

It is also added that Haaland has been cited as the perfect successor to Karim Benzema, who will be 32 in December. Madrid signed Luka Jovic for 62m pounds last summer to ease the pressure of Benzema only for the Serbian to become a failure in his first season.

Mbappe, who has been long linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu, has his contract running until 2022 but reportedly handed a transfer request to the Les Parisiens. Besides Madrid, Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the French World Cup winner.

Elsewhere, Haaland continues to impress for Borussia Dortmund as well as Norway’s national team, with whom he recently registered his first-ever hat-trick against Romania in Nations League.

It goes without saying that the 20-year-old is one of the hottest talents in Europe at the moment and Manchester United are already regretting over missing him in the winter transfer window.

However, the Red Devils have also joined the transfer race for the Norwegian striker, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to sign his compatriot this time around.
