Ronald Koeman likely to be sacked as Barcelona coach, Xavi eyed as his successor

Xavi agrees £5.4m-a-year deal, to replace Setien as Barcelona manager

Ronald Koeman likely to be sacked

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is likely to be sacked at the end of this season as reports state that the Dutchman’s chances of survival are looking bleak after a string of disappointing results in recent weeks, which threw the Catalan club out of the equation in the La Liga title race.

Barca were thought to be in complete control of the title race before they slipped up their chances towards the business end – 2 defeats and 2 draws in the last five games – and allowed rivals Atletico Madrid to Real Madrid to have a clear edge.

Koeman has received a lot of stick for his tactical changes and being less competitive against bigger opponents.

The Dutchman has recently stated that he would like to grace his contract, which runs until next season, but yet another failure in the Champions League and La Liga means that it could be the end of the road for him.

Xavi eyed as Koeman’s replacement

Barca legend Xavi has been identified as the replacement for Koeman as the Catalan club sees him as the perfect choice to lead the team.

Xavi has recently renewed his contract with Al Saad, but the Blaugrana are interested in bringing their former player back to the Nou Camp.

The Spanish boss is expected to arrive in Barcelona soon for the vacation, and the club’s hierarchy have planned for a meeting to discuss a potential move.
