Suarez assures Atletico Madrid 3-points with a late goal against Alaves

Luis Suarez-Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid picked up a 2-1 win over Deportivo Alaves in the Spanish League earlier tonight.

Marcos Llorente scored the opening goal of the game on the 41st minute and he was set up by the former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan striker has been in impressive form since he joined the capital club.

Deportivo Alaves were down to 10 men when Victor Laguardia was sent off for the 63rd minute but the hosts managed to stay in the contest and fight back through Felipe who scored on the 84th minute to level things up.

However, Diego Simeone’s men were in control throughout the game and they managed to sneak in the winner on the 90th minute through Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan international was set up by Joao Felix and Atletico Madrid will be relieved to have picked up all three points here.

They were the favourites heading into the game and the fans will be pleased with the outcome.

The win tonight dates Atletico Madrid to the top of the table with 38 points from 15 matches and Deportivo Alaves dropped down to 14th in the League table with 18 points from 17 matches.

It will be interesting to see if the home side can bounce back strongly in their next outing.

Meanwhile Atletico Madrid have a chance to pull further clear of their title rivals in the next few weeks.

They are already two points ahead of Real Madrid and they have two matches in hand.

It remains to be seen whether Atletico Madrid can win their remaining two matches and extend their lead at the top of the Spanish League.
