Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has decided to resign following a mediocre season with the Los Blancos.

The Spanish outfit were quite disappointing in the Champions League, and they finished second in the League table, narrowly losing out to Atletico Madrid.

There have been several reports in recent weeks that the 48-year-old would leave at the end of this season and that the players were well aware of his decision.

The Frenchman left his position as the Real Madrid manager back in 2018 before returning in 2019. It will be interesting to see if he decides to return after a sabbatical.

The former Real Madrid midfielder is one of the most successful managers in the club’s history, and he has won an unprecedented three consecutive Champions League titles with the club.

He also helped them win their first La Liga title five years back in 2017.

It will be interesting to see who replaces the Frenchman at the helm next season.

Former Juventus manager Max Allegri has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish club, but Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte has left the Italian champions earlier tonight, and he might be in the frame to replace Zidane as well.

Whoever decides to replace the French manager will have a massive challenge on their hands and will have to oversee a major rebuild of the side.

Real Madrid have several top-class players at their disposal, but most of them are in their 30s, and the club needs to plan for the future now.
