Paris Saint-Germain were held to a 1-1 draw against St Etienne in Mauricio Pochettino‘s first game in charge of the French champions.

The Argentine manager will not be happy with what he has seen tonight and it will be interesting to see if he can turn this team’s form around in the coming weeks.

Romain Hamouma scored the opening goal of the game on the 19th minute for Saint Etienne and Paris Saint-Germain managed to respond immediately through Moise Kean. The on-loan Everton striker scored the leveller on the 22nd minute but Paris Saint Germain failed to capitalise on their chances and secure a winner.

The draw tonight leaves Paris Saint-Germain second in the League table with 36 points from 18 matches and they are now three points behind League leaders Lyon.

Thomas Tuchel was sacked earlier this month for his team’s poor start to the League campaign and Mauricio Pochettino will be under pressure to deliver instantly.

Mauricio Pochettino will be unhappy with the lacklustre defending from his team tonight. Paris Saint Germain conceded the opening goal of the game after midfielder Idrissa Gueye lost the ball near the penalty area and it was completely avoidable.

It will be interesting to see if Paris Saint-Germain can bring in the necessary reinforcements in January and galvanise their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

They have been linked with the likes of Dele Alli recently and they could surely use some midfield signings over the next few months.
