Patrick Bamford put the hosts on the front foot once again before half time and Spanish striker Rodrigo killed off the game in the 84th minute as Ryan Mason tasted his first defeat in the Premier League.

Spurs became one of the welcomed victims for Leeds United’s fluid attacking football. The aggression from the home side reflected in the stats as they had around 7 shots on target out of 16 attempted. In contrast, the North Londoners only had 3 shots. In reality, if it weren’t for Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris, Marcelo Bielsa’s men would have won the game by a considerable margin.

Patrick Bamford caught everyone’s attention after an impressive season and today’s goal marked his 15th in the Premier League. After Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert Lewin, Bamford has become the third English player to score 15 goals and the second player from Leeds since 1990. The 27-year-old’s performance would have caught the eyes of Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate, who was present in the stands.
Tottenham’s Champion League dreams in jeopardy
Following the emphatic win over Sheffield United, Spurs must have felt that Champions League qualifications wouldn’t be more challenging. Suddenly, after such a dismal performance against Leeds, Spurs are back to square one, and their chances for a place in the top-four looks bleak.
If Chelsea and Leicester manage to win the remainder of their games, the North Londoners would be well and truly out of the equation no matter their results in the rest of the games. They could face further humiliation and could be left out of Europa League contention if Liverpool and Everton come victorious in their next few outings.
