After 59 games in 257 days, Bruno Fernandes set for a new Manchester United deal

Bruno Fernandes-Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is expected to sign a bumper new contract with the Old Trafford outfit.

Apparently, the two parties have been in talks for months and the Portuguese international is set to put pen to paper on a new long term deal worth £200,000 per week.

Fernandes has been the best player at Manchester United ever since his move from Sporting Lisbon and United must do everything in their power to keep him at the club for as long as possible.

The attacking midfielder has already managed to establish himself as a fan favourite and the Old Trafford faithful will be delighted to see that he is closing in on a contract extension.

That said, it is high time Manchester United manage the midfielder’s game time over the coming weeks.

The Portuguese midfielder has played an absurd number of games (59 games in 257 days) over the past year and he is at a breaking point now. The midfielder looked jaded against Crystal Palace and it is evident that he is in need of a long rest.

However, it will be interesting to see if Solskjaer can afford to rest the player in the coming weeks especially with Manchester United’s top-four place not certain yet.

Fernandes is key to Manchester United’s success this season but they cannot afford to burn him out just yet.

The 26-year-old midfielder has 22 goals and 13 assists to his name in 40 appearances for Manchester United so far this season.

The Red Devils are currently in second place and Fernandes has been the key for them so far.

The Portuguese international’s contribution at Old Trafford is unparalleled since his move to the Premier League and the Red Devils will have to manage him carefully if they want him to succeed in the long run.
