Arsenal Update: Ally McCoist on Aubameyang punishment, Guendouzi wants Arsenal return

Aubameyang to get 3-year Arsenal deal worth around £250,000-a-week

Ally McCoist on Aubameyang punishment

Arsenal star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was recently dropped for the game against Tottenham Hotspur because he was late to the game.

Mikel Arteta decided to punish the Gabon forward by dropping him to the bench for the crucial Derby game and Ally McCoist reckons that the striker made a mistake and he should take the punishment on the chin and move on.

Aubameyang has been a key player for Arsenal ever since his move from Borussia Dortmund and it will be interesting to see how Arteta’s decision affects the player now.

The Gunners cannot afford to infuriate their best goal scorer. The player and the manager will have to sort out their issues amicably.

Arsenal ended up winning the derby game 2-1 despite Aubameyang not starting the match and the fans will be hoping to move on from this incident as soon as possible.

Talksport pundit Ally McCoist believes that Aubameyang was completely wrong and therefore he should not be having any complaints regarding the punishment dishes out to him.

“He’s made a mistake, he’s left him out of the starting XI on the bench,” McCoist said on talkSPORT.

“The team come out and played well and deservedly won the game 2-1. Move on and take your medicine. Don’t start throwing toys out of prams. Just take it on the chin because you’re completely wrong. Move on.”

Guendouzi sends a defiant message

Meanwhile, midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is ready to fight for his future at Emirates.

He is currently on loan at Hertha Berlin and he will look to sort out his long term future at the end of the season.

He said: “I am focused on my season with Hertha Berlin. Next, we will sit down with my entourage and people at the club to discuss the future. This summer will be a decisive moment. I belong to Arsenal for another year. From the moment that I am playing for Arsenal, I will give everything for the club, fans, team, and staff. I will work hard for the shirt as I have always done.”
