Arsenal to back Arteta during January window

Arsenal are going through a rough patch in the Premier League right now and the club hierarchy are willing to back manager Mikel Arteta with funds to improve his squad next month.

According to reports, Arteta will be given the money to bring in new signings.

Currently, the London club are four points off 18th placed Burnley and they are very much in the relegation race right now.

A club of their stature should be challenging for European football every year and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal can turn it around in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Valencia striker Maxi Gomez.

The Spanish club are under financial stress right now and they are looking to sell the Uruguayan international for a cut-price fee next month.

The 24-year-old striker has a release clause of around £125 million in his contract but Valencia are willing to cash in on him for a fraction of that money.

Arsenal have two quality strikers in Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Maxi Gomez

However, they could use more depth in their attack and Maxi Gomez could prove to be a quality addition.

That said, the Uruguayan’ arrival could hamper the development of talented young strikers like Gabriel Martinelli and it will be interesting to see how Arteta manages to accommodate all the of these attackers in his starting lineup.

Bernd Leno

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Bernd Leno has urged the team to stay together and fight through the current difficulty.

Arsenal crashed to a defeat against Everton and the German goalkeeper revealed that there is no time for the players to feel sorry for themselves and they will have to stick together and stay positive.

He said: “Of course, there’s big disappointment, it hurts a lot,” he told Arsenal media.

“It’s not the time to feel sorry for ourselves. We have to stick together, we have to stay positive and this is the only way because on Tuesday we have another big game. We have to win games to come out of this situation and have a positive mood again.”
