The former Bulgarian striker has insisted that Three Lions midfielder Kalvin Phillips would be a good fit for Man Utd.

Manchester United have recently confirmed the signing of England and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

However, former Red Devils striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged the club to snap up another Three Lions star Kalvin Phillips, who is having an excellent Euro 2020 campaign.

The Leeds United midfielder has been a key cog in Gareth Southgate’s set-up since the start of the tournament, garnering praises for his performances.

Berbatov thinks that Phillips would be an ideal signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Berbatov said:” Kalvin Phillips stood out again too [in the 2-1 semi-final win over Denmark]. He’s been one of the players of the tournament and, sooner or later, I expect him to leave Leeds for a bigger club.

“Offers will come in for him after the tournament. He is playing with maturity, agility, knowing when to run with the ball and when to pass.

“I would like to see him sign for Manchester United.”

Perhaps, Phillips successfully built on his impressive form at Leeds under renowned manager Marcelo Bielsa.

While he mainly operated as the deepest midfielder for the Elland Road club, the 25-year-old has been deployed as one of the double pivots alongside Declan Rice, allowing him to have enough freedom to join the attack.

Man Utd are not amongst the potential suitors for Phillips as of now, although fellow Premier League club Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on him.

His agent has also addressed the speculations over the midfielder’s future, stating that he would continue at Elland Road for next season.

The Three Lions will play Italy in the finals on Sunday, and Phillips is expected to retain his place in the midfield.
