Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester United: Solskjaer’s side missing the spark

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-Manchester United

Manchester United and Crystal Palace played out a goalless draw in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer will be disappointed with the performance of his players and he would have expected to close the gap with Manchester City with a win.

United are now unbeaten in 21 away Premier League games and it is a club record streak for the Red Devils.

The visitors had an impressive chance early on in the game but Vicente Guaita pulled off an outstanding save from Nemanja Matic.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood had chances to put their side ahead in the first half as well but both strikers failed to hit the target.

United’s performance tonight summed up once again why they need a top-class goalscorer. The visitors lacked a clinical presence upfront and someone like Erling Haaland could have made a huge difference.

The Norwegian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months.

Crystal Palace struggled to create too many chances and Manchester United were relatively comfortable at the back.

The draw tonight leaves Manchester United second in the Premier League table with 51 points and Crystal Palace are not 13th with 39 points.

A win here would have given Manchester United immense confidence heading into the Manchester derby later this week. They could have closed the gap with City to just eight points by the end of the week.

Meanwhile Palace will be up against Tottenham in the next Premier League game.
