Everton

Everton’s chances of Premier League survival took a big hit last weekend when they were beaten 2-0 by fierce rivals, Liverpool.

In a one-sided game at Anfield, Liverpool dominated the Toffees from start to finish and won the game courtesy of second-half goals by Andrew Robertson and Divock Origi.

The result and Burnley’s shock win over Wolves means that Frank Lampard’s side come into this tie sitting in the relegation zone. They are currently trailing Burnley by two points, albeit with a game in hand, and will have to win this game to stand a chance of surviving this season.

Frank Lampard will be sure that his former club, who are also looking to seal their place in the UCL next season, will do him little favour. And so, he will hope that his side can put in a convincing performance in this tie.

The chances of them doing so is high given their recent home form. The Blues of Merseyside have won three of their last five home games (D1, L1), including a 1-0 win over Manchester United on this ground. So, they will head into this game confident of pulling off a significant result with the support of their fans.

Possible Everton starting line-up

Jordan Pickford; Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Ben Godfrey, Vitaliy Mykolenko; Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Alex Iwobi; Demarai Gray, Richarlison, Anthony Gordon.

Injured: Andros Townsend, Nathan Patterson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, André Gomes and Tom Davies

Doubtful: Donny van de Beek

Suspended: None

Chelsea

Chelsea will look to continue their quest for a top-three finish when they travel to Liverpool this Sunday.

The Blues have been made to wait to seal their place in the UCL next season with a series of dropped points in recent games. Their latest in that line of results was a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in their last game.

Despite being the better team and scoring the first goal at Old Trafford through Marcos Alonso, Thomas Tuchel’s side were made to pay for their profligacy in front of the goal with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the equaliser for the Red Devils.

The result means that Tuchel’s men come into this tie sitting in third, six points ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal, with five more games to play. The result also extended their unbeaten away from home to eleven games.

They will be confident of getting a good result against the Toffees who are struggling in the relegation zone.

Possible Chelsea starting line-up

Edouard Mendy; César Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr; Reece James, Marcos Alonso, N’golo Kante, Jorginho; Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz.

Injured: Ben Chilwell, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mateo Kovačić

Doubtful: Ross Barkley

Suspended: None
