Jose Mourinho-Tottenham Hotspur

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Michel Vorm has explained what it is like to work with Jose Mourinho as the manager.

The Dutchman revealed that Mourinho got along really well with him and he has similarities with the former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

Jose Mourinho way

Vorm claims that Mourinho is very direct with his communication and it is different to that of the other managers.

The Portuguese manager has had problems with players at different clubs because of his direct nature and his ruthless assessment of situations but it seems that his clear way of communicating has impressed the former Tottenham goalkeeper.

Vorm also added that Mourinho is desperate to win a trophy with Tottenham and that is the only reason The London club decided to bring him in after their progress under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine manager did well to rebuild Tottenham with a very limited budget but he failed to win silverware with the club.

Jose Mourinho is a proven winner throughout his career and it will be interesting to see if he can deliver a trophy for Tottenham this season.

The London club have started the Premier League season really well and they are in the title race right now. Spurs also have the quality to challenge for the Europa League and the domestic competitions.

Vorm Comments

Vorm said: “Five or six years ago you couldn’t have imagined that he would become a Tottenham coach. He has a certain way of working and playing and that takes time. Now you can see his style more clearly at Tottenham. Now you can start judging him a bit more. Mourinho really insists on winning a prize. I get along very well with him.

“Look, people also have a certain image of Louis van Gaal. I also worked very well with him with the Dutch national team. I also think Van Gaal is a nice man and I see similarities with Mourinho. Of course I had a certain image of him.

“But when you work with him, it is different. I like a clear way of communicating and Mourinho is very direct. Take it or leave it.”

Asked about Spurs ending their silverware drought, he added: “That is one of the reasons that Mourinho is now there. In terms of football it may not be as spectacular as under Pochettino, but with him they hope to take the next step.”
