Former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Redknapp, has claimed Brighton could be willing to part ways with Arsenal target and star player Leandro Trossard before his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Belgian midfielder is attracting interest from several Premier League top teams after a stellar campaign that has seen him star for the Seagulls. He has scored seven goals in 14 games in the first half of the season, leading to strong interest from the Gunners, who are reportedly interested in signing him in January.

And according to the former England Redknapp, Brighton “aren’t afraid to sell” the 27-year-old.

Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League via Football365, Redknapp described Trossard as one of his “favourite players,” and explained why Brighton might be willing to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

“They aren’t afraid to sell players because they can find the next one to come in, a bit like Trossard,” he said.

“They know clubs are going to be coming in for him in January or at the end of the season, but they can live with it.

“He is one of my favourite players and he has been for a few years. He just sees the game so well. He has every trick in the book. He can pass. He presses really well. He has got lovely skills. You press him and he will walk past you.”

Trossard is currently away on international duty with the Belgian national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He is set to feature in Roberto Martinez’s plans and could increase his stock if he performs well In Qatar. That prospect will increase the likelihood of Arsenal wanting to snap him up in January before richer clubs have the opportunity to lure him with high wages when he becomes a free agent in the summer.

The acquisition of Trossard will help Arsenal in their fight to win the Premier League title this season. The Gunners currently sit top of the table, five points ahead of Manchester City after a very strong start to the season.

However, Arsenal are not the only Premier League team interested in signing Trossard.

Chelsea are said also to be interested in the Belgian, with the Blues boss Graham Potter keen to bring his former player to Stamford Bridge.
