Jose Mourinho rips into Tottenham players after 3-3 draw

Tottenham were held to a 3-3 draw against West Ham United last night and Jose Mourinho was visibly disappointed with his team’s defensive performance.

Spurs were 3-0 up in the game but they defended carelessly towards the end and threw away their advantage.

Harry Kane and Son managed to put Tottenham 3-0 ahead within the first 16 minutes and Tottenham seemed rampant throughout the first half.

West Ham did well to contain the home side after going three nil down and they got back into the game when Fabian Balbuena scored the first goal for them on the 82nd minute.

Davinson Sanchez scored an own goal to throw West Ham a much needed lifeline a few minutes later and Manuel Lanzini scored a spectacular goal from outside the box to seal a draw for his team.

Jose Mourinho would have expected a comfortable win for his team after the position they were in for most of the game.

The Tottenham manager ripped into his players after the game and claimed that they are psychologically weak and they failed to get the job done towards the end of the game.

He said: “It was exactly when we were in control that we conceded the first goal and their belief went up. My guys were not strong enough to cope with it psychologically and in the last few seconds we lost two points. I have to analyse the second half and I have to do it internally but for you I prefer to say that football happened and praise West Ham’s belief.”

It will be interesting to see how these comments affect the Tottenham players in the coming weeks.

Tottenham will be hoping to challenge for the top honours this year and they will have to improve defensively in order to do so.

It remains to be seen whether they can bounce back with a positive result in their next game now.
