Leicester City

Leicester City will look to make it three wins in three league games for the first time in over a year when they welcome Manchester City to the King Power Stadium.

After recording just one win in their first ten league games of the season, the Foxes have enjoyed an upturn of form and come into this tie on the back of two consecutive wins against Leeds United (2-0) and Wolves (4-0).

Their last outing was the 4-0 win over Wolves, which means that they have not conceded a goal in their last three league games. They will hope to extend their clean sheet run to four games for the first time since a four-game run that ended in July 2020.

However, having conceded nine times in their last three meetings with Manchester City, Brendan Rodgers will know that it is a tough task keeping the visitors quiet. But having won two of their last three home games while keeping three clean sheets in all, they will be confident of getting a good result here.

On a personal note, Rodgers will be also desperate to win this game and get one over Pep Guardiola while Jamie Vardy, who has only scored more goals against Liverpool and Arsenal, will be desperate to add to his nine strikes in 18 meetings with City.

Manchester City

Manchester City have the opportunity to go top of the Premier League table on Saturday when they travel to Leicester on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side kept pace with Arsenal at the top of the table with an important 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last time. The win was secured courtesy of a brace by the in-form Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne and kept the Cityzens two points behind Arsenal, who dropped points against Southampton last time out.

However, Haaland and his free-scoring City side could do nothing to break down Borussia Dortmund in midweek as both sides played out a goalless draw in Germany. Although Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty in the game, City were largely toothless in the match and failed to truly trouble Gregor Kobel at the Dortmund goal.

Failure to score in that game means that Guardiola’s men come into this fixture without a goal or a win in their last three away games (D2, L1). That represents their longest such run since Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge (2016/17).

With Arsenal looking a bit jaded, the Premier League defending champions will believe that this is an opportunity for them to exert their authority in the league and shoot themselves to the top.

Having scored 36 times already this year with just eleven conceded they remain a solid unit on their day and will fancy their chances against a Leicester team that has conceded the second most goals in the league this season.

Possible Manchester City starting line-up

Ederson Moraes, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Joao Cancelo; Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva; Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland.

Injured: Kyle Walker, Kalvin Phillips
