Liverpool eyeing up a move for Champions League winner

Bayern 3-0 Lyon-David Alaba-Robert Lewandowski

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.

The Austrian will be out of contract at the end of this season and he has not agreed on an extension with the German club yet.

Alaba will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club when the transfer window reopens in January and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can snap him up on a bargain.

The Austrian can play as a left-back, as well as a centre back. His versatility will be an added bonus for Jurgen Klopp and his team.

Furthermore, Alaba has the quality and the experience to succeed at the highest level. he has won almost every trophy at club level and he could be a Thiago-esque signing for the Reds.

Liverpool won’t be the only club after the Austrian if he is available in January and it will be interesting to see if the Reds can fend off the competition and convince the player to move to Anfield.

Bayern Munich will be hoping to keep the player at the club beyond this season and it remains to be seen if they can persuade the defender to sign an extension with them over the coming weeks.

Furthermore, Liverpool are going through a defensive injury crisis right now and the signing of Alaba could give them some much needed options at the back.

Van Dijk has been ruled out for the season and Matip is quite injury prone. Gomez is the only fit centre back at the club right now.
