Liverpool

Liverpool will look to make it two wins in two league games for the second time this season when they welcome West Ham to Anfield.

The Reds produced arguably their best performance of the season last time out as they overcame a powerful Manchester City side to record just their third win of the season.

In an entertaining game at Anfield that saw Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp receive a late red card, a second-half goal from Mohamed Salah was the difference in a game that saw Liverpool keep their first clean sheet in the league since a goalless draw with Everton in early September. The game also saw Virgil van Dijk maintain his unbeaten record at home to 69 games (W58, D11) while Liverpool also extended their club record unbeaten run of 28 league games without defeat at their famous stadium.

With two big wins from their last two games and ten goals scored in their last three, the Reds will feel that they have turned a corner and can continue on their current trajectory. But an injury to Diogo Jota in the game against City is threatening to derail what has been a positive run of form in recent games.

Regardless, they will welcome West Ham to Anfield confident of getting a result and with their last five head-to-head meetings at Anfield yielding five wins, they will fancy their chances of recording their third consecutive win in all competitions. With Manchester City and Arsenal not in action this midweek, a win in this game will reduce the distance between the Reds and the title leaders to seven points and eleven points, respectively.

Possible Liverpool starting line-up

Alisson Becker; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Roberto Firmino; Fabio Carvalho, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez.

Injured: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Joel Matip, Luis Diaz, Arthur Melo, Diogo Jota

Doubtful: Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones

Suspended: None

West Ham

David Moyes and his West Ham United side will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Anfield this Wednesday.

The Hammers had their four-game-winning run halted by Southampton who held them to a 1-1 draw last time out. In a disappointing game that saw West Ham register 25 shots, where only four were on target, a second-half strike by Declan Rice rescued a point for West Ham after Romain Perraud had given the Saints the lead in the 20th minute.

However, West Ham still come into this tie in good shape having lost just one of their last seven games in all competitions, winning five times and drawing just once. But they come into this round of games sitting in 12th place, three points ahead of the relegation zone.

And so, they will be desperate to keep their strong form going to enable them to come completely out of the relegation battle and into the top six battle where they feel they belong after the investments they made in the summer.

Possible West Ham starting line-up

Lukasz Fabianski; Ben Johnson, Thilo Kehrer, Kurt Zouma, Aaron Cresswell; Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice; Pablo Fornals, Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen; Gianluca Scamacca.

Injured: Nayef Aguerd

Doubtful: Maxwel Cornet, Craig Dawson

Suspended: None
