Manchester United and Wolves match ended in a goal-less draw at Old Trafford yesterday. Bruno Fernandes’s debut was unable to secure three points, but he certainly showed glimpse of brilliance that we can expect in Manchester United’s future matches.

In a game of few chances, Bruno Fernandes made few attempts from long distance which were eventually saved by fellow countryman Rui Patricio. His attempts were not forceful to ensure any positive impact, but it showed the possibility of intelligent and compelling football, once the new recruit and rest of the Manchester United attack start operating in a more synchronised manner.

The nearest United came to scoring was in the final minute of stoppage time when another Portuguese Diogo Dalot headed Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross narrowly wide. Manchester United have missed opportunities to advance in league table, as they secure only 4 points in 5 matches.

Wolves worked hard but, despite introducing their debutant, Daniel Podence, near the end, also lacked a killer touch in front of goal.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have now won once in six games since their memorable comeback triumph against Manchester City on 27 December last year and, with 13 games of the campaign remaining, are, like United, six points off a Champions League place and behind Sheffield United.
