Kevin De Bruyne signs new deal

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has signed a new contract with the club until the summer of 2025.

The Belgian has developed into one of the best players in world football since joining the club in 2015 and it is no surprise that the Premier League giants are keen on holding onto him for as long as possible.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to win more Premier League titles and the Champions League with Manchester City in future and Kevin De Bruyne will be crucial to his ambitions.

De Bruyne said: “I could not be happier. “Since joining City in 2015, I have felt at home. I love the fans, my family are settled here in Manchester and my own game has developed really well.

“This football club is geared for success. It offers me everything I need to maximise my performance, so signing this contract was a straightforward decision. I am playing the best football of my career and I honestly feel there is more to come.

“Pep and I see football in the same way. Having that relationship with a manager is so important to me because our objectives are totally aligned and we want the same things.

Foden approach blocked by Guardiola

Meanwhile, Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden was twice approached for a loan move by Parma back in 2019.

However, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola blocked such advances.

Apparently, Guardiola considered Phil Foden as the ideal long term replacement for David Silva and that is why Manchester City decided to hold on to the 20-year-old despite the interest from Italy.

Parma manager Roberto D’Aversa personally called Pep Guardiola to negotiate the transfer of Foden but the Manchester City manager turned down the advances.

Foden has developed into one of the key players for the Premier League club and he recently scored the winning goal for his side against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Delap set for first-team role

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that youngster Liam Delap will be promoted to the senior squad next season.

The highly-rated striker has made quite a name for himself at the youth level and he has scored 20 goals in just 15 Premier League 2 games.

Delap has already played for the Manchester City first team in the Carabao Cup back in September and he will be hoping to force his way into Guardiola’s plans next season.

Guardiola said: “Liam, like (James) McAtee, (Cole) Palmer, and Luke Mbete… many players training and doing well. We are in touch with (EDS coach Enzo) Maresca and talking about how they are developing. It’s training with us and next season he’ll be with us next season, training every day.”
