Manchester United

After recording their first draw of the season, Manchester United will return to Old Trafford looking to register their sixth win of the season and so keep their faint hopes of a Premier League title for this season alive.

The Red Devils were considered title outsiders after a poor start to the season that saw them lose their opening two games. But five wins (D1, L1) in their last seven games has them sitting in the fifth position, nine points behind league leaders Arsenal.

They have proven to be hard to break down recently, with their goalless draw with Newcastle last weekend their second clean sheet in their last two games. Although they were outplayed by the Magpies in their last game and were only saved by the frame of the goal that denied Newcastle two goals, they will still feel proud of their defensive showing.

They will welcome Antonio Conte’s Tottenham side to Old Trafford looking to continue their three-game unbeaten run at home in the league (W2, D1) and to build on their home form which has seen them win seven of their last 13 league games in the venue while losing just once (D5).

Possible Manchester United starting line-up

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Rafael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw; Casemiro, Christian Eriksen; Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho; Anthony; Marcus Rashford.

Injured: Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Anthony Martial

Doubtful: Donny van de Beek,

Suspended: Scott McTominay

Tottenham

Tottenham made it ten wins in ten competitive games at home last time out when they beat Everton 2-0 to record their seventh win of the season and keep their quest to win the title this season alive.

In a cagey affair at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a goal from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg secured the win for Conte’s men and kept them level on points with Manchester City and four points behind first-placed Arsenal.

With the pair not in action this midweek due to Arsenal’s Europa League involvement, Spurs will travel to Old Trafford with the chance to reduce the Gunners’ lead at the top to one point.

Having won in two of their last four visits to this stadium, the North London side will fancy their chances of getting a positive result. However, a mental barrier for them might be their away form, which has seen them win just once in their last five away trips in all competitions.

But with that win coming at the Amex Stadium against Brighton, where no side had won with a clean sheet in over five months prior to their visit there, they will be confident that their away form has been corrected.

Possible Tottenham starting line-up

Hugo Lloris; Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davies; Matt Doherty, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Dejan Kulusevski; Son Heung-min, Harry Kane.

Injured: Japhet Tanganga

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Emerson Royal
