Tottenham are in talks to appoint Paulo Fonseca as their new manager.

The London club have been working hard to find a long term replacement for Jose Mourinho, and it appears that the 48-year-old Portuguese, who left Roma in May, is now the club’s preferred option. If it happens, two Portugueses ironically would swap their work-place addresses in London and Rome.

Tottenham are set to confirm the appointment of Fabio Paratici as their sporting director soon, and reports claim that the Italian has recommended Fonseca.

The Portuguese manager is keen on moving to North London, and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League side can finalise his appointment soon.

Fabrizio Romano claims that the manager has held direct talks with Fabio Paratici regarding a move to Tottenham, and he has been offered a three-year contract.

The official documents are yet to be signed, but both parties are confident of securing an agreement in the coming days.

Paratici has signed a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2024, and a similar deal has been offered to Paulo Fonseca.

The 48-year-old had a forgettable spell at Roma, and it will be interesting to see if he can succeed in English football next season.

The first order of business for Fonseca will be to hold onto key players like Harry Kane. The England international has been heavily linked with an exit this summer, and it will be interesting to see if the Londoners can hold onto their best player.

Fonseca will also be expected to guide Tottenham back into the Champions League and challenge for trophies next year.
