Wilson brace secures 2-1 win for Newcastle against Everton

Callum Wilson-Newcastle United

Everton crashed to yet another defeat in the Premier League earlier today and Carlo Ancelotti will be disappointed with his team’s performance at St. James Park.

Newcastle won the game 2-1 thanks to a second half brace from Callum Wilson.

Wilson gave Newcastle the lead on the 56th minute with a penalty and doubled the home side’s advantage on the 84th minute.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored Everton’s only goal in injury time to give them some hope but the home side held on for all three points in the end.

Everton crashed to a defeat against Southampton in their previous game and they were expected to bounce back with a win here.

The Toffees have lost their way after a good start to the season and it remains to be seen if they can recapture their form in the coming weeks.

Carlo Ancelotti will be expected to challenge for European qualification after his summer outlay and it remains to be seen if Everton can compete with the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Newcastle are now 10th in the table with 11 points and Everton remains second on goal difference.

Everton have been heavily reliant on James Rodriguez for creativity this season and his absence seems to have weakened them a lot. It will be interesting to see how the Toffees cope without him if the Colombian does not return to action next week.
