Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers will resume their Premier League campaign in search of a second consecutive win after a week off from league action.

Bruno Lage’s side recorded their first win of the Premier League season when they beat Southampton in game week six, and the Portuguese coach will be looking to make it two in a row when they host the English Champions on Saturday.

Wolves have suffered heavy defeats in the hands of Pep Guardiola’s team, with the latest being a 1-5 win last season. The Wanderers’ last win against the Cityzens came back in 2019 Under Nuno Espirito Santo. However, with no intercontinental football to worry about, Bruno Lage’s team will come into this game with a huge energy reserve having had the whole of last week to rest and train.

The Portuguese coach will be hoping that the extra rest his team have had will be instrumental against Pep Guardiola’s team who were pushed to the limit by Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Possible Wolves starting line-up

Jose Sa; Jonny, Nathan Collins, Max Kilman, Rayan Ait-Nouri; Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes, João Moutinho; Pedro Neto, Goncalo Guedes, Hee-Chan Hwang.

Injured: Chiquinho, Raul Jimenez, Sas Kalajdzic

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Manchester City

Manchester City continued their fine start to the season with another victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek. After going a goal down against the Germans courtesy of a Jude Bellingham header.

But Pep Guardiola’s side rallied together to steal the win from Edin Terzic’s side with a thunderbolt strike from John Stones and yet another strike from Erling Haaland, who converted a beautiful outside of the boot cross from Joao Cancelo.

The match against Dortmund was the third time this season that the ‘Cityzens’ have had to make a comeback. Guardiola will be happy about the resilience his team are showing but wouldn’t be appreciative of them having to show it more often. The Spanish tactician will be hoping to avoid such scenarios when his side travel to the Molineux.

Manchester City missed a chance to go top of the table after their draw with Aston Villa last time out, and the Cityzens who are on the hunt for a third Premier League title in a row will be keen to avoid any dropped points against Edin Terzic’s side as they aim to go top at least temporarily pending Arsenals result against Brentford a day later.

Possible Manchester City starting line-up

Ederson Moraes; John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manual , Joao Cancelo; Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva; Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Aymeric Laporte, Kyle Walker,

Suspended: None
